Sindh Govt decides to purchase machines to enhance laboratories' testing capacity

Sindh government has decided to purchase necessary equipment and machines to enhance the laboratories' testing capacity in the province. The decision was taken at the meeting of Task Force on Coronavirus in Karachi, with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in the chair. CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah said that Sindh needed 5,000 more ventilators to deal with a health emergency, but in the first phase, he was approving the purchase of 290 ventilators, 3.2 million Personal Protective Equipment, 100 Rapid Kit Antigen Test Machines, 100,000 testing kits, 50 RT Lamp Testing Machines, 10,000 RT Lamp Kits and 29 portable X-ray machines. COVID-19: Punjab to increase testing capacity to 5000 per day by this week

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Tuesday vowed that COVID-19 testing capacity will be increased to 5000 in Punjab by the end of this week. Addressing to media in Multan, Yasmin Rashid said that he visited Multan to inspect the arrangements in the hospitals for COVID-19 patients after Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed some reservations over lack of facilities in the hospitals. “All facilities are available at Multan Nishtar and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital for Covid-19 patients. There are currently 35 ventilators available in Tayyip Erdogan Hospital,” she added. The health minister said that 34 doctors including paramedical staff have tested positive for the novel coronavirus at Multan’s Nishtar Hospital. She said the Multan hospital Covid-19 lab has conducted 3,608 coronavirus tests thus far. “We cannot test everyone due to the lack of new coronavirus kits. Around 140 areas in Punjab have been sealed completely due to the rising number of coronavirus cases,” added Yasmin ...

NDMA establishes 56 relief camps, provides 3,000 tents to Sindh government

National Disaster Management Authority has established 56 relief camps besides providing 3,000 tents to Sindh government to provide solace to the people affected by rains in Karachi. According to NDMA spokesman, the relief and rescue operation is continuing vigorously in the rain affected areas of Karachi.
